ENGIPRESS INDUSTRIES
LIMITED (earlier known as Engineers
Prestressed Structures Pvt. Ltd.) is situated at Banmor on Central
Railways, 1244 Kms from Mumbai CST and 300 Kms from New Delhi on Jhansi
Division. The unit was established on 3rd Dec 1979. The
production started in Oct 1981. This unit was the first concrete sleeper
unit to be established in the state of Madhya Pradesh. The initial
technical know-how for the unit was provided by IIT, Madras.
Originally,
the contract for the manufacture of main line sleepers was awarded by
the Central railways for a Quantity of 2,10,000 Nos. of sleepers.
Subsequently, this quantity of 2,10,000 was enhanced to 4,10,000 Nos. of
52 Kg. Sleepers. After manufacturing 3,19,000 sleepers, the railways
asked to switch over to 60 Kg. Sleepers. Here, it would not be out of
place to mention that our unit was the first unit to take trial orders
for 60 Kg sleepers with 7ply 9.53 mm HTS Wire, in collaboration with
RDSO Lucknow.
Right
from Oct 1981, our unit has been manufacturing main line sleepers to the
full satisfaction of the Railways. In fact, the rate of rejection for
the sleepers at our unit is as low as 0.05%. This is to put on record
that all the orders for the sleepers have always been completed well
within time.
Very
recently, some trial castings of sleepers and test cubes were carried
out at our plant, in collaboration with IIT, Kanpur and RDSO Lucknow, to
find the effect of Plasticisers in
concrete sleepers.One
of the biggest advantages of this unit is the availability of very good
quality of stone chips and the river sand. In fact, the BT Metal
available at Gwalior is one of the best available in India. It is only
due to this fact that we are able to give a better strength of concrete.
Recently,
the unit is in the process of putting up a most modern stone crusher.
This will further help in improving the quality of concrete
The
unit has a modern office located at Central Bank Compound, Jayendra Gunj,
Gwalior. All the administrative work is carried out through this office.
The office has a staff of 12 persons consisting of Financial Managers,
Computer Operators, accountants, stores purchase assistants etc.
The
staff at the factory site is headed by a Factory Manager. The staff at
the factory consists of qualified civil engineers, diploma holders,
technical staff for the workshop and qualified electricians. Having crossed almost two decades in the field of manufacture of
concrete sleepers vis-à-vis possessing a very long experience, our unit
is ranked as one of the most modern with latest technology available.
Our unit has the potential to safely undertake production of any big
quantity of sleepers that may be placed on us.
